Morning People was written and recorded by Mason Lowe during the height of the pandemic. He escaped to his basement to burn off the stress of working at a human services agency while Covid turned the world upside down.

"Work was really tough. I had a lot on my mind. A LOT. And I dived into music in a way I never have before. This was a super serious time, but the songs that came out are really poppy and fun. I don't know why.  I'm not sunshiny person."

The drummer for Seattle power pop band Bread & Butter, Mason missed playing with friends, "but it was also a little intoxicating to follow every musical idea I had as fast they came up and far as they would go."
